What You’ll Be Able to Do

  • Explain the load path: flat flanges carry flexure; the corrugated web carries all shear and stabilizes flanges, eliminating web stiffeners.
  • Apply the design basis: flexure per AISC 360-22 §F5, web shear per EN 1993-1-5:2024 Cl. 13 under AISI S100-24, axial per E3/E4/E7.
  • Account for shear deflection: the thin deep web adds 5–35% additional deflection. Apply the two-pass self-weight procedure.
  • Select efficient sections: optimize by weight (plf); depth is the primary driver; handle LTB and Cb.
  • Work a full example end to end: 50 ft office infill beam from loads to final section selection.
